Describing the style of a normal person

The woman on this photo is rather tall and slim with red long hair which isn’t bound together. Her outfit consists of a white loose blouse, black trousers and high heels. The blouse has got a neck line with 3 buttons but the woman wears them open. It looks like it’s made out of silk and because it’s sheer you can see the white top she’s wearing under the blouse. The trousers are bell-bottomed and have fine vertical stripes from the top to the bottom. Under the wide bottom of the trousers you can hardly see the white high heels which have grey blank on the side.

Her whole outfit is black and white which is OK, but in my opinion this doesn’t match with her hair colour. Actually, I don’t like her hair at all. I’m convinced her look would be better if she had black and shorter hair, maybe till the shoulders. However, the trousers look really handsome and the pattern with the stripes make them look even better. To make her styling perfect she should think of wearing a tighter blouse which is not sheer because the black trousers are shinning through it and delete the direct border between black and white.

How genetics influence our life?

What can we do with genes? If you make a list of positive and negative possibilities it would be endless. In the last few years there was much research on genetics and nowadays genetics appear in almost every part in our life.

Every day we have to do with products which are gene-modified. Be it tomatoes, pumpkins or finished products, the economy uses genetics in every way to make more profit but this is not healthy for our body at all. While some are maybe not dangerous others can have really bad effect on our body. Most people simply have no clue about genetic engineering. Genetics are not only used in the food industry but also for criminal investigations. It is possible to expose criminals with the aid of modern equipment like cameras which recognise faces and compare them with the database of criminals. Just a fingerprint is enough to identify somebody. This is very helpful for the police whereas intelligences or other institutions can track somebody very easily. In a few years there may be a total control of governments and we are not able to move freely anymore.

In my opinion, genetics can be useful if we use it correctly and only for our own advantages. But we should rather stop the development of genetics than risk that there will be de-gene-ration in our society or a clone of each of us as a back-up store for organs.

My ideal family

Statistics from the last years doubtlessly shows us, that we are in a time of familiar change. The big families are disappearing and the number of traditional families is decreasing. When we have a look at the permanently growing number of childless couples or couples with only one child, we see that the definition of the traditional family is in change. But is the traditional family always an ideal family?
In the following text I will talk about my opinion of an ideal family and I will have a look at the importance of families in society.

It’s not that easy to define the setup of an ideal family. According to statistics such a family would consist of mother, father and 2,1 children, one son and one daughter. If you ask me, families with four children is much better than the traditional. But not all of them are good. For example, if there are four daughters in a family the father is in minority. There should always be a balance between male and female family members. The reason, why a bigger family is better is simple. Children need bothers or sisters to play with, especially in younger age. It’s really important that they somebody to talk to beside their parents. Like in a traditional family the father has a full-time job whereas the mother is at home and cares for the children. When these are older the mother might has a part-time job.
Strong families are also very important for society. People have it easier in life if they have a family which helps you in every case and on which you can trust. Most of the criminal people come from “problem families” with bad solidarity, poor communication and often even violence. Children out of such families will most likely have no graduation, no job and if they will have their own family once they will also turn into bad parents. These facts prove the importance of family, not only in this aspect but also in every aspect in life.

To conclude, the ideas of the ideal family are divided. Nobody knows which type of family is the best and most ideal. But what we know is that more people do not want to have a family. Maybe it is just because in these days society career is much more important and that let’s people simple no time for a family.

Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves

Appreciation

The hit duet “Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves”, which was performed by Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin, was first released in 1985. The main idea of this song is the standing of the women in today’s society.

There are three stanzas which all have rather the same content.

The first one says that women had to belong to a man in the past but nowadays it’s different. Women can stand on their own feet and they are independent.

In the second stanza we can see the aim of this song, namely to celebrate the liberty of the women of every age. In the past they were the inferior sex, but till now they have became stronger and now they also get better jobs like doctor, lawyer or other jobs in which you have to have much responsibility. Years ago that wasn’t possible. The only job for women was housewife and taking care about the children. Now, women are everywhere, even in policy.

The last stanza is about the same like the other two but in a longer form.

This song expresses that in that time women have been the inferiors of their husbands. Now they can look for themselves and are able to reach every goal they want to reach. Although women are stronger, almost independent and more confident now, they still can love a man in the same way as before.

We think the writers of “Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves” wants to say what women can reach if they hold together and how strong they can be. There are still countries in the world where women have no rights and everything is controlled by men because the female sex has no appreciation. With this song they maybe want to comfort the women in these countries to stand up against them and to get emancipated with the men.

It’s very easy to conclude this song. It’s about the inferior sex all over the world that has no confidence from the male sex. Women aren’t worse in any way and this song celebrates the fact that the situation for them has been becoming better.

Task 1:

Dear Carol,

how are you? We haven’t seen each other for a long time, but it’s not easy for me at the moment, actually for the whole family. We all have many problems, although the main conflict is between Nick and Jack. There’s no lunch or breakfast without quarrel. Nick always finds a reason to criticise Jack. I’m also not proud about Jack’s behaviour that night, but I think Nick is rather unfair. Suzy, my mother, has a better relationship to Jack. She tries to protect him all the time. I can also talk to her well. She’s confident, tries to help and find solutions for our problems. If Jack and Nick are fighting, she wants to calm them down. I think she has never had any success with that. Jack is just in a tough time and maybe he needs someone to talk to. I often want to talk but he always retreats. So I don’t know, whether I should leave him alone. Can you give me some advices, but only if you want to?
Hopefully I will see you soon.

Yours, Zoe

Dear Mr. Peter,

I want to apply fort he vacancy, which was advertised in the “VN“ two days ago. Working with kids attracts me to do this job. I love young people and like to play with them. Due to my younger brother, who is in the same age, I have got much experience. I often had to supervise him. Some of my talents are organising and making timetables, but I am also good at leading groups. In 2006 I finished the BORG” in Goetzis with Matura and did the “Zivildienst” at Caritas.
I would really like to get this summer job, to have fun with the children and get some more experience. Please give me reponse as soon as possible.

Yours faithfully, Luzian Burgstaller

Jack

Character:

Because the look of Jack is not mentioned, our group had to think about he looks in our opinion. We came to the conclusion that he is a very athletics boy and rather tall and slim. In our imagination he is a well dressed guy because we think that his clothes and his look is pretty important to him. He wears old, blue jeans combined with a T-shirt that has a motive on the breast which matches perfectly with Jack’s brown hair. His hair is middle-long and scruffy most of the time. But anyway he mostly wears his baseball cap, which he has since he was five years old.

How does he act? :

Jack is the best example for a pubescent teenager. He is a rude boy, how does everything he wants to. For example he goes to every party. When he talks with his parents about the events of the last night he gets upset really fast, even that he leaves the house. Jack doesn’t want to listen to his father and also doesn’t except Nick’s rules. When he finds out that Ben lied when he told that Jack had two girls at the party, he explodes in rage. Jack is a really wild boy, how loves the nature and the forest. He could survive alone in the wilderness if it’s necessary.

Relationship:

The relationship to his father Nick is not so good. They both do not like each other very much. So Jack does not listen to Nick and also does not abide by Nick’s rules. They never have a calm and good talk because Nick always starts to shout at Jack. It goes as far that Nick drives his son out of the house.
Jack gets on better with his mother Suzy. He can talk to her without any problems and stress. Suzy always protects him from Nick and his accusations.
Zoe, his sister, thinks that she knows everything better and has the solutions for all of Jack’s problems. But Jack does not want to hear them and withdraws from her because he does want to talk to her.

Speak: Task 2

The Main Character (Melinda)

After Melinda gets raped she withdraws from her family and her only two friends she has. She wants to speak about that what depresses her but she can’t negotiate to do. So the only place for her to be alone is in her head. In School Melinda tries to make friends although she knows that everybody hates her for that what she has done.

Also Rachel, her ex-best-friend which has done everything together with Melinda does not want to have something to do with her. She is the only person Melinda can speak to. Rachel is not the only person which turns away from her. All Melinda’s friends from elementary school are in their own clan. Only David Petrakis supports her all the time. In contrast to Heather, who breaks off the friendship because Melinda is depressed and not speaking David wants to help her. He says she should not be afraid to speak but he does not get any success.

At home Melinda is alone the most time ‘cause her parents are working very much. So they do not speak much together. The main way of communication is writing a letter and pinning it at the fridge. If her parents are at home she is mostly in her room or watching TV. Though they know that something is wrong with Melinda they do not really do something against or try to talk to her to solve the problem.

Also the teachers do not notice Melinda. They are not friendly especially Mr. Neck is very hostile to her. Except Mr. Freeman likes and speaks with her because he notices very soon what is up with her. That is reason why Melinda’s best mark is in art and in all other subjects she gets very bad marks.
